Newberry was founded in 1785 and is proud of its diverse heritage. The town is located about 30 minutes outside of Columbia, SC and is close to Lake Murray and Lake Greenwood. The town is trimmed with architectural elements unique to a bygone era of the early settlers. Recent renovations to the downtown area of Newberry offer good food, shopping and cultural experiences at the Newberry Opera House. 

Newberry was listed in Crampton’s The 100 Best Small Towns in America in 1996 and in 2001 at The 50 Best Small Southern Towns by Sweitzer and Fields.
