Buyers Please Dont Ask For The John Deere Tractor I have worked with numerous buyers in the last 8 years and have had some very interesting requests. I am sure many Real Estate Agents have great stories about items that buyers request when submitting an offer. Most sellers are happy to leave some household items for the buyers if the offer is good. Some common requests that I get are the refrigerator, curtains, and pool items if the sellers are moving to a home with no pool. A few of the uncommon requests I have gotten are the family pet (a cute little orange cat) and a John Deere Tractor that was brand new. As a Buyers agent it is my duty to submit any and all offers and terms to the sellers. So I call the sellers agent and submit the offer price for the home. I then started in with the terms...Cash deal, 30 days to close, no closing cost help from sellers, and by the way... they want the cat. We received the news that the offer was accepted a few hours later. The sellers were relocating and would be renting for a year and taking the cat and finding a pet friendly rental was a concern for them. We closed 30 days later and everyone was happy. Now as for the offer where I asked for the John Deere tractor to remain... we got the counter-offer the next day. The sellers wanted me to convey to my buyers that they would be happy to accept the offer price however, "you can't have our tractor and you should know better than to ask a man for his John Deere." I am happy to report that the deal worked out (even with-out the tractor and again everyone left the closing table happy.
