When I lived in Chicago, I worked downtown near Michigan avenue. I many times would not drive to work due to late hours parking and the ease of the train system. I sometimes would get caught in full blown blizzards while walking home from the train station. That, I don't miss one bit. I lived there about 4 years when I began my search for warmer climate. I had family that had lived in South Carolina in the Sumter area, and Georgia. Once I felt the climate compared to Chicago, I knew my move was coming.
The Columbia area has a humid sub-tropical climate. Average highs are close to 75 degrees yearly. Average lows are near 53 degrees. This also helped my decision to move being able to golf year round!! Weather is moving towards us in the next few days, and South Carolinians are not usually very prepared! We may see some snow fall on Tuesday or Wednesday. March averages as the wettest month of the year, and January averages as the coldest month of the year. Putting these two together gives February our best chance for snow in the Columbia area even though the February average low is 36.3 degrees. When snow does happen in South Carolina it can FREEZE everything! Probably for the best since many people don't have the practice driving in snow, making the roads much more dangerous.
It's no wonder people from all over flock to South Carolina searching peaceful lake settings, and escaping the frigid north snowstorms. Nine months out of the year in Columbia the highs are in the 60s! Enough said!!
Be prepared to change your plans for Tuesday afternoon, and Wednesday since these days might not be good days to go view properties!

""Robin provided an excellent experience from start to finish. She always answered the phone promptly and if she didn't know the answer she got back quickly with the information. Just can't say enough about her professionalism and knowledge of both buying and selling. I know that's her job but so many people today rely on others to do their work but Robin was hands on and got it done. She did a fantastic job of negotiating both buying and selling. I could go on but I think anyone can tell that we were well pleased with Robin and would not hesitate to recommend her.""
