  • Take your bananas apart when you get home from the grocery store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster
  • Store opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold.
  • Look at the bumps on the bottom of peppers. Peppers with three bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with four bumps are firmer and better for cooking.
  • When frying ground beef, add a teaspoon of water.  It will help pull the grease away form the meat while cooking.
  • Want to make scrambled eggs or omelets rich? Add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.
  • For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Then melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a delicious minty frosting.
  • Tips for when cooking with garlic. If you would like a light taste of garlic when cooking, add it immediately to a recipe. If not, and you prefer a stronger taste, add it at the end of a recipe.
  • This Halloween, save your snickers bars and make a delicious dessert. Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Then place in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. Served alone or with vanilla ice cream, this is a yummy treat.
  • No more soggy reheated micro pizza! Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove. Set heat to med-low and heat til warm. This keeps the crust crispy. Yes, this really does work.
  • Want to make easy deviled eggs? Put cooked yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal and mash until they are all broken up. Add remaining ingredients, reseal and keep mashing until mixed thoroughly. Cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done and there you go, easy clean up.
  • Get the most our of your frosting!! When you buy a container of cake frosting form the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. This can double it in size. Not only does it save you money, it also cuts the sugar and calorie content down per serving!
  • When reheating refrigerated bread, here's a tip to help keep the food moist and help it reheat faster. When warming biscuits, pancakes or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. Might sound crazy, but it works!
