South Carolina Fall Weekends For The Avid Sports Fan

South Carolina Fall Weekends For The Avid Sports Fan

If you’re like me, when the weekend comes along in the Fall, there’s one thing on my mind! College Football! And living in South Carolina, it’s even better. South Carolina is home to two of the top teams in the nation annually. (USC) No not that USC! The University of South Carolina Gamecocks of the Powerhouse SEC conference located in Columbia, SC, traditionally has a powerhouse team led by veteran coach and personality Steve Spurrier. Saturday mornings start early as everyone rushes down to William-Brice Stadium located at 1125 George Rogers Blvd in Columbia to start the festivites, with a sold out capacity of over 80,000, you’re sure to have the time of your life! You have to check out the Cockaboose Railroad, A great tradition at USC where they have made actual railroad Caboose’s and turned them into condo-like party central’s! check out the link. They come on the Market every year and sell very quickly!

As you’re heading out North West from Columbia, you will quickly notice a Orange and Purple flash of flags and Tiger’s tails heading the other way on I-26 towards the University of Clemson located in Clemson SC. The Fighting Tiger’s play in the ACC conference. Another national power coached by Dabo Swinney with their home games played in Memorial Stadium located at Avenue of Champions Clemson SC, better known to opponents as “Death Valley”. With the tradition filled nation of college football, Clemson has one of the best, Before each home game, Clemson players gather around Howard’s Rock, rub it for good luck, then race down “The Hill” into the stadium known as “Death Valley.” The sight of those orange-clad Tigers rushing into the stadium has been called “the most exciting 25 seconds in college football”.

Every late fall we all figure out who your really rooting for with one of the biggest rivalries in all of college football, South Carolina vs Clemson. So if you’re like me and love college football, South Carolina is the perfect place for you to settle down!
