What Is So Special About CHAPIN

When we were planning our move, we had quite a few choices of areas in which we could settle down. Yet, once we visited, we knew instantly that Chapin just felt like home. Yes, it is small. Yes, it is quiet. Yes, it is "in the country". Guess what, though . . . those are some of its' greatest aspects! Coming from "the country" we were able to keep our small town feel where the people are friendly, kids are everywhere, and you can buy boiled peanuts on the side of the road!Image title

For those of you who like city living and working,  do not fear! The "big" city of Columbia is just 25 minutes down I26. There is Columbiana Mall 15 minutes away, and Walmart is even closer. (If you can stand it! ;)) If you enjoy a good road trip, you can dig your toes into a sandy beach and inhale the smell of pluff mud in a little over 2 hours while visiting the historic city of Charleston, or you can be hiking through the mountains after a 2 hour drive the opposite direction. Charlotte (and Ikea, woohoo!) are a short 2 hour drive North, or head west to Atlanta. It will only take you about 3 1/2 hours. The possibilities are endless. Most of all, though, we were drawn to the water. Chapin is located on beautiful Lake Murray. This lake boasts over 500 miles of shoreline and covers a whopping 50,000 acres. Lake Murray offers recreation for the avid boater, fishermen, wake boarder, and food connoisseur. With restaurants scattered along its' banks, you won't go hungry! Ask almost anyone their plans for the weekend during the warmer months, and they will tell you they'll be on the lake. The water calls to me. It calms me, It excites me, It soothes me. I wouldn't live anywhere else!
